Motor Starters
✓ Authorized Siemens distributor
✓ Hard-to-find and manufacturer-specific equipment
✓ Since 1972
Burned coils and tripped overloads put motor starters on the shopping list. Nonstop demand for Nema gear has run through Bud Ferguson's Industrial Control & Supply Inc. since 1972. Electricians order motor starters from one warehouse that ships to every state. Scarce control parts tied to a single manufacturer have been carried for over fifty years.

Tasks Motor Starters Handle Beyond Switching
Closing the circuit and guarding the windings behind it are both jobs for motor starters. Contactors handle the switching while an overload relay watches how much current the load draws. Across-the-line starting sends locked rotor amps through both parts on every push of a button. Non-reversing builds cover most duty, though a conveyor or hoist needs the reversing kind. Adding a disconnect or breaker inside one enclosure gives the combination version. Without that relay, nothing between the supply and the windings notices a stalled shaft.

Non-Reversing, Reversing, and Combination Builds
Size 00 upward covers the spread of our motor starters, open frames and cabinets alike. Three-phase full voltage units can be repaired with our magnetic starters. Reversing builds and combination arrangements are carried alongside them. Compressor and chiller duty relies instead on DP contactors sized for that equipment. Windings on three-phase work take the common control voltages we keep. Indoor general purpose enclosures suit surface mounting, and open frames go inside a panel. Solid-state overload relays cover narrow amp bands rather than one broad setting. Bare contacts, coils, and relay blocks are held apart from finished assemblies.
Full Load Amps and the Overload Relay
Nameplate full load amps decide which overload belongs on motor starters, not the horsepower alone. Motors of the same rating can draw differently once service factor enters the picture. Setting the relay high leaves those windings unprotected during a stall. Going low instead produces nuisance trips, which is how somebody ends up bypassing protection. Curves matter as well, since a long-accelerating load needs time before anything opens. Our electrical equipment supplier works from that plate rather than a horsepower figure on a drawing. Squaring the two correctly is what keeps a motor from failing twice.
Bring a Stalled Line Back Up
Idle conveyors and dead pumps both wait on the right motor starters. Amps, voltage, horsepower, and trip class narrow it down to one build. Cabinet style and reversing capability finish the specification. Lamps on the same panel run through Siemens lighting contactors rather than a starter. Finished units and separate relay blocks are both available off the shelf. Consignments move out of one warehouse to addresses in every part of the country. Forward the motor nameplate to get a quote on the starter that brings the line back up.
